I received the Complete Idiots Guide to Pugs about six months after my pug Mia arrived on my doorstep. Despite the "what is my girlfriend trying to tell me" title, it is a fairly handy book on training your pug, and dogs in general. I read about 70% early on and then the last part quite recently. Apparently I need to establish more of a Leadership position. For some reason I thought my ability to pick her up at any time and take her were I want had more significance. What the book doesn't tell you is how to handle the situation when the text disagrees with your girlfriend who used to raise guide dogs, and you think the book is right. [Point in question, dedicated feeding times verses free feed]. Seems like I loose no matter what. If I write more it will concentrate on inter-household power dynamics and very little on the book, so I am going to stop while I am outside the dog house.
